Mirja Myllykangas is Head of Tech Academy at ING, and a product-minded people and capability leader working at the intersection of people strategy, technology and organisational performance.

Her work focuses on one of the most important questions in modern organisations: how do we build capability at scale in a way that actually drives business outcomes? At ING, Mirja has led the design and launch of global initiatives across the employee journey, including recruitment standards, onboarding journeys, 360 feedback evolution, engineering growth frameworks and capability-building approaches for technical teams.

She approaches people systems much like a product: understanding user needs, identifying the real problem to solve, designing scalable solutions, testing what works, driving adoption and using data to improve over time. One example is the Growth Framework for Software Engineering, a global product-like solution designed to bring clarity to roles, growth, expectations and development across engineering teams.

Her work brings together product thinking, behavioural science, technology and stakeholder influence to design systems that are practical, scalable, measurable and grounded in real work. More recently, Mirja has been exploring how AI can accelerate capability development and reshape how organisations design talent systems, learning experiences and workforce decisions.
